Retired woman and 50-year-old man arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking

Officers were on patrol when they spotted a suspicious vehicle in Smethwick yesterday, August 27, at around 7pm.

They stopped the car on Eva Road and after a search they found suspected class A drugs, cannabis and a large amount of cash.

The 74-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

They are both still being held for questioning.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We have arrested a 74-year-old woman on suspicion of drug trafficking. We stopped a car and found suspected Class A substances.

“They stopped the car on Eva Road and after a search they found suspected class A drugs, cannabis and a large amount of cash.

“The woman – and a 50-year-old man – were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to sell. They both remain in custody for questioning.

“Drugs can not only destroy lives but also fuel further crime. We will continue to take action to remove drugs from our streets and arrest those suspected of being involved in drug trafficking.”
