Patrick Mahomes says Taylor Swift is making up football games — and the Chiefs might implement one, too

She’s in the stands cheering on her boyfriend, and maybe she’s also sending signals to coach Andy Reid?

Taylor Swift has become such a big football fan that the pop star has tried her luck at creating plays, according to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Swift’s romance with KC tight end Travis Kelce has led to a strange Venn diagram of football fanatics — who spend days glued to the TV each fall — encountering music lovers — who consider sequins normal, everyday wear.

“I think it’s cool to see the girls and women who are really embracing watching football,” three-time Super Bowl MVP Mahomes told NBC Sports in an interview posted Thursday.

“I know as a father of a girl, I love seeing these little girls — these daughters — and how much they love spending time with their dad and watching football,” Mahomes said.

“And when I met Taylor, I realized how genuine and cool she is,” he continued. “I think that was special for me because she’s, like you said, the most famous person in the world — she couldn’t be.”

Swift’s fandom has even seen her grow from the bass and treble clefs on the music score to the X’s and O’s on the chalkboard.

“And she’s really interested in football and she asks a lot of good questions. She started coming up with plays,” Mahomes added. “We might have to put one in.”

Reid, the veteran coach of the Chiefs, is among the most irreverent personalities in his field, breaking the mold of strict, control-oriented leaders like Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells.

The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime of this year’s Super Bowl when Mahomes connected on a 3-yard walkoff TD toss with Mecole Hardman. The play was affectionately known as the “corn dog.”
