Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw heads to IL with bone spur in toe

Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw has been placed on the injured list with a bone spur in his toe, the team announced Saturday.

The Dodgers have not indicated how long Kershaw will be out.

Kershaw was forced to give up his starting spot against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night due to pain in his left big toe.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the pain was a persistent complaint from a bone spur.

Kershaw allowed two runs in the first inning and was removed with no outs in the second inning after giving up a home run to Corbin Carroll early in the inning.

Kershaw, 36, has made seven starts since his season debut in late July. He is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA.
