After watching “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Chicago Bears,” it’s hard not to have a good feeling about this team.

Yes, the Bears are 0-0. The real season doesn’t start until Sunday at 1 p.m., when the team welcomes the Tennessee Titans to town.

But the good vibes have continued throughout the preseason, during which the Bears went 4-0. No. 1 draft pick, quarterback Caleb Williams, appears ready for prime time. The Bears appear to be well-matched on and off the field, as their chemistry is on full display heading into the season opener.

Take for example this interaction between star player Jaylon Johnson and rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze.

We’ll see if all this translates into regular season success soon enough, but for now, in the fifth and final episode of “Hard Knocks” we showed how the team wrapped up its pre-season preparation and trimmed down the roster to 53 players.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles spoke about that problem.

Poland was in the spotlight Tuesday for a number of reasons, of course. One of them was a particularly tough cut by defensive back Adrian Colbert, a seasoned veteran who has overcome tragedy, adversity and enormous obstacles in his life to become an NFL player.

Colbert did not make it to the last 53 and that was clearly an attack on the Poles.

Another was because the Bears received a trade offer for running back/wide receiver Velus Jones Jr., who eventually made the team. Chicago, however, made no move.

On the latest episode of Hard Knocks, a conversation between Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus was about a team inquiring about Velus Jones Jr. via trade. It’s unclear what was offered, but Poles said he would “never go below a fourth.”
Jones was selected in the third round in 2022.

The episode, of course, ends with a shot of Williams centering himself during practice as the regular season rapidly approaches.

The time is almost here, as the Bears kick off against the Titans on Sunday at 1:00 PM (Eastern Time).
