Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: Games to conclude with party at Stade de France

The bad weather disrupted part of the ceremony.

According to organizers, the cauldron that houses the Paralympic flame, shaped like the base of a hot air balloon that is launched into the sky every evening, was unable to make its final journey from the Tuileries on Sunday due to strong winds and rain.

French boccia player Aurelie Aubert extinguished the Paralympic flame, surrounded by other athletes from the host country.

And as the rain poured down, there was partying in Paris as 76-year-old French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre kicked off an hour-long set with a host of DJs.

The Paralympic Games next summer, in 2028, will be held in Los Angeles, USA. Broadway star Ali Stoker sang the US national anthem at the closing ceremony.

American rapper Anderson Paak also performed against the backdrop of Venice Beach to generate interest in the next Games in Los Angeles.
