Women’s Champions League draw: Arsenal to play Swedish BK Hacken, Manchester City to host Paris FC

Arsenal will face Swedish side BK Hacken in the second qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League, while Manchester City will take on Paris FC.

The Gunners beat Rosenborg 1-0 at Meadow Park in the first qualifying round to secure a place in Monday’s draw.

City’s opponents, Paris FC, caused a surprise last year when they knocked out Arsenal in the first round.

Both English teams will first play an away match in the two matches taking place on 18-19 September and 25-26 September.

Celtic have also made it to the next round after beating Gintra on Saturday. The Scottish champions travel to face Ukraine’s Vorskla Poltava in the first leg.

The second round will determine who will join Chelsea, Barcelona, Lyon and Bayern Munich, who automatically qualify for the group stage as champions of their respective competitions.

The 2024–25 season will be the last edition of the Women’s Champions League with a 16-team group stage. Next year, the competition will change to a single league stage with 18 teams.

Last week, Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall said the current qualifying format is a “relic of the past” that “affects the risk of injuries”.
