Allahabad High Court dismisses PIL seeking inclusion of Taekwondo, Judo Karate as regular classes for girls in classes 1 to 8

Recently, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a public interest litigation seeking inclusion of Taekwondo and Judo and Karate courses as regular classes for girls in classes 1 to 8.

The applicant approached the Supreme Court arguing that the introduction of the said regular courses would help the girls become independent and self-confident and would help them cope with any difficulties they might encounter in their lives.

The Court noted that the applicant had written a letter to the Prime Minister on 2 December 1945.^nd May 2024 and filed the petition within 15 days. It was noted that the petition was filed without any investigation, with general allegations.

The bank consists of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali And Judge Vikas Budhwar observed,

“The petition only makes general statements demanding that the girls be independent, self-confident, etc. However, no further indication has been given regarding the availability of trained staff to impart training to the students aged 6 to 14 years studying in classes 1 to 8..”

The PIL was therefore rejected.
