Kim Mulkey, LSU Tigers Land Commitment of No. 5 Prospect in America

Kim Mulkey and the LSU women’s basketball staff have signed America’s No. 5 prospect, Divine Bourrage.

Bourrage made his decision public on Thursday afternoon, following an official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend.

The Top 5 player in the Class of 2025 gives Mulkey and Co. their second commitment in the current recruiting class as the program lands the high-profile target. She joins Top 25 prospect Bella Hines as the pair of commitments in the cycle.

Bourrage, a 5-foot-11 guard from Iowa, visited LSU last weekend for an official tour of two top 10 players in America.

She was joined by Zakiyah Johnson, ranked No. 7 overall for the 2025 cycle, and Grace Knox, ranked No. 8 overall.

The five-star trio was treated to snacks and drinks by the LSU staff, photo shoots, the LSU football team’s season opener and more during their multi-day stay.

The program’s recruitment efforts continue to pay off, after the city’s top candidate committed just days ago.

For Bourrage, she’s a fluid guard who can get to the rim at will with a rapidly improving jumper. Her head coach credits her work ethic and drive for her meteoric rise in the recruiting rankings.

Here’s what On3 Sports and Divine’s coach Paul Rucker had to say about Divine Bourrage:

“Davenport (Iowa) North coach Paul Rucker knew right away that Divine Bourrage was going to be a star in women’s basketball. ‘From the moment she walked in as a freshman, you knew she was going to be a special player,’ Rucker told KWQC 6. ‘What she’s done the last three years, she’s just growing. Sometimes great players rest on their laurels. She doesn’t. With her, the potential for her is off the charts.'” Her high school coach also praised Bourrage’s work ethic. ‘We don’t have to chase Divine to get her to work,’ Rucker said. ‘She’s going to have a ball in her hands in a gymnasium — it could be church, it could be at the West Y, it could be at another school in our conference for a pickup game.’ Bourrage was named Iowa’s Gatorade Player of the Year following the 2023-24 season. She averaged 19.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and three steals last season while leading Davenport North to a 22-3 record, a Mississippi Athletic Conference title and an Iowa Class 5A state tournament quarterfinal appearance.

The 247Sports analysis of Bourrage’s game:

“Bourrage has the size and skill set to make an impact at either guard position. She is comfortable handling the basketball, although Bourrage may be better (used) in space where she can score the ball on the wing. In both capacities, Bourrage has shown the skills needed to get to the rim, particularly with her right hand. She also has one of the better stepback jumpers in the game when she attacks right to go left and steps back from there. Bourrage has shooting range beyond the arc. Defensively, Bourrage’s size and athletic (package) make her a potentially elite weapon on the college stage when defending the basketball.”

With Bourrage on board, the Tigers have secured their first commitment for the 2025 season cycle, with two more Top 10 prospects on their radar.

ZaKiyah Johnson: No. 7 player in America

The 6-foot-3 guard from Kentucky is a player the LSU staff continues to rave about. The five-star player also arrived in Baton Rouge last Thursday.

LSU, South Carolina, Louisville and Kentucky are the heavyweights in this contest, with Louisville posing a threat to its recruiting, a source told LSU Tigers On SI.

But the Tigers are starting to position themselves well for the elite bucket-getter.

When it comes to Johnson, Kentucky and Louisville are putting the pressure on, but the general feeling is that the Tigers are making up ground here. This past weekend’s visit was a slam dunk, and she was clearly invested from start to finish. From posting on social media to hanging out with current players, the overall “vibe” was positive for Johnson. LSU has made a big push in her recruitment, but she’ll be making her fair share of trips here as well.

Grace Knox: No. 8 Player in America

Knox is an outsider as a West Coast player who lives in California, but if she does leave the coast as planned, LSU has made a move in her recruitment, according to a source. She has visits scheduled to Texas (Sept. 14), USC (Sept. 28) and Tennessee (Oct. 11), but LSU will get another in-person visit in September.
