Son charged with father’s murder on Sunshine Coast: IHIT

A 26-year-old man has been charged with premeditated murder in connection with the death of his father on the Sunshine Coast last year.

The British Columbia Attorney General’s Office approved charges against Jackson Doyle on Friday, according to murder investigators.

Jackson’s father Henry Doyle, 58, was found seriously injured on Klein Lake Forest Service Road in Egmont on Sept. 23, 2023. Emergency responders treated him, but he died at the scene from his injuries.

The Sunshine Coast RCMP responded and determined the death to be suspicious. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which leads homicide investigations throughout most of the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast, was then called in to take over the case.

“The IHIT investigative team has remained dedicated to this investigation over the past year,” Cpl. Chase Smith said in a news release Friday.

“We would like to thank the Sunshine Coast RCMP, Richmond RCMP, IFIS, Vancouver Police and the entire Egmont community for their support during this investigation.”

Jackson Doyle will remain in custody until his first court appearance, IHIT said. Online court records for the case do not yet show a scheduled date.

Henry Doyle was a Vancouver native who owned a dental service company across Canada and was also president of the Dental Industry Association of Canada.

According to police, he was riding a dirt bike to the forest road at the time of his death. The bike was found near his body.
