Five Arrested for Embezzling ₹1.17 Crore from Virudhunagar Milk Cooperative | Madurai News

Virudhunagar: The economic crimes wing The police investigation department (EOW) on Friday arrested five men for embezzling Rs 1.17 crore from a milk producers’ cooperative society in Rajapalayam.
The arrested men were former manager Murugesan, 63, Rajalingam, 47, Thangamariappan, 53, Panneerselvam, 61, and Kaliraj, 56.
Aavin Officials recently audited the cooperative and found discrepancies in its figures for the 2020-2021 financial year. Following a complaint filed by them, the EOW unit registered a case.
During the investigation, EOW officials found that members of the association had defrauded Rs 1.17 crore on the pretext of making awareness advertisements during the Covid-19 pandemic.
