Meta faces hefty EU antitrust fine over advertising practices, FT reports By Reuters

(Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: ) faces a hefty fine in the EU over its alleged attempts to dominate the classifieds market, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

EU regulators allege Facebook’s parent company is tying its free Marketplace services to the social network in a bid to undermine its rivals, the newspaper reported.

The bloc’s decision could come as early as next month and would be one of the last investigations led by outgoing EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager, the report said.

Meta and the bloc did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
