FLUMIST approved for self-administration in the US

FLUMIST is approved in the U.S. as the only self-administered influenza vaccine. FLUMIST, a needle-free nasal spray, is approved for self-administration by adults up to 49 years of age or by a parent/guardian to individuals 2-17 years of age.¹

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval was based on a comprehensive application, which included the results of a usability study demonstrating that individuals 18 years of age and older could self-administer FLUMIST or administer it to eligible individuals 2 to 49 years of age.¹
