Brownsboro ISD teacher charged with injuring elementary school student

CHANDLER, Texas (KLTV) – A Brownsboro ISD teacher is facing felony charges after a child was injured in class.

Kyle Lee Rocha, 39, of Chandler, is charged with injuring a child with intent to cause bodily harm after his arrest Tuesday. An arrest document says the charge stems from an incident in which Rocha overturned a 7-year-old student’s desk in class.

According to the affidavit, the incident occurred on Sept. 13 at Chandler Elementary School in Rocha’s behavioral classroom. An investigator with the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Taskforce visited the campus on Friday to investigate the alleged incident.

During the visit, the investigator was shown a video of Rocha interacting with a 7-year-old boy in the classroom while three other boys were present. According to the document, the video showed the child rebelling against Rocha’s requests, who appeared to be asking the boy to follow classroom rules.

The video then showed the boy leaning his desk back, at which point Rocha allegedly pushed the desk back. The child can then be seen hitting the back of his head and both elbows on the desk behind him, causing injuries, before jumping up and crying, the document said.

After viewing the video, the investigator was sent images of the boy’s injuries on Monday, including marks on his head and elbows, the affidavit said. An arrest warrant for Rocha was signed that same day.

Rocha was booked into the Henderson County Jail on Tuesday. He was released later that day on $25,000.
