Representatives summon EFCC chairman Bobrisky and others over alleged bribery scandal – Idoma Voice

The House of Representatives has summoned the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan and all officials involved in the prosecution of the case against Bobrisky.

In a letter from the Chief Chairman of the Joint Commission, Jon Ginger Onwusibe, on Friday, the summons was prompted by serious allegations of corruption involving the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Services.

Among the guests are ACG Ben Rabbi Freedman, who was the Corrections Supervisor for Lagos at the time, Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of Directors, Micheal Anugwa, DCC, in charge of Medium Security, and Sikiru Adekunle, DCC, in charge of Maximum Security. Both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan were also summoned.

In April, Bobrisky was arrested by the EFCC on six counts, including money laundering and currency mutilation. During his trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Justice Abimbola Awogboro dismissed the money laundering charge but sentenced the social media personality to six months in prison for currency misuse.

Just over a month after his release, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an audio recording on Instagram in which Bobrisky alleged that EFCC officials had extorted ₦15 million from him to drop money laundering charges . According to VeryDarkMan, the audio was released after Bobrisky refused to pay back ₦4 million borrowed from someone to collect the bribes.

Following these allegations, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered an immediate investigation and called on both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to report to the EFCC office in Lagos for questioning. In addition, Vanguard reported that the Home Secretary has launched a separate investigation into Bobrisky’s claims that he bribed prison officials to avoid serving his sentence.
