Release description:
Diplomacy Is Not an Option is a base-building survival RTS with an active break, set in a medieval fantasy setting, where your choices can determine the fate of the world.

You step into the worn-out shoes of the minor Lord. Circumstances force you to fight. As always. Always in the minority. Build your walls, raise your armies and experience warfare on a whole new scale. More than 25 THOUSAND enemies attack your castle walls. You’ll master technology, economics, and even magic if you hope to survive.

Your king is a mighty and powerful leader. Plus, he’s a self-centered pig. He loves to drink and generally enjoys his life. But after the treasury was emptied and even raising taxes didn’t help, it became clear he couldn’t continue his leisurely lifestyle. That’s a problem. Usually yours. Because peasants, who do not like higher taxes and hunger, rise up in your feud. King demands that you put down the rebellion and go to the far country to get some gold. (There are rumors of one where there are tons of them) Will you do your sovereign bidding and set sail to replenish the palace coffers? Will you join the violent leader of the rebels to bring the tyrant to justice? Will you help poor residents of Uncharted Continent? Or will you cast aside human nature and ambition and lead armies of Undead? Questions, questions, questions. The only thing you can be sure of is that no matter which faction you support, blood will be shed. And legions of archers, swordsmen, siege weapons, knights and more will be at your side to achieve your goal.

While admittedly ironic, the laws of physics are still deadly serious in Diplomacy Is Not An Option. Every arrow, catapult stone, and enemy launched towards the sky is physically modeled, creating a tangible and cohesive battlefield. Just make sure your troops have towers to shoot from and that there are clear lines of sight, otherwise you’ll find your best laid plans embarrassingly blunted by your own fortifications. Think of your gates, your lines of progress and retreat. Create kill zones and fallback positions. You will have to take an active role in the battle to get the best out of your men.

Never forget that your castle, even when under siege, was built on the backs of the peasants. Defend your people, and they will serve you well. Engage in farming and farming, otherwise food may become scarce and your soldiers may starve on the battlefield. Build houses, bury fallen soldiers and farmers to prevent the plague, and treat the infected when death comes knocking. If you don’t care about your people, you can quickly find yourself inundated with the most unpleasant problems. Like empty supplies, unrepaired walls and drying out barracks… or literally being overrun by swarms of zombies. And no gentleman wants to see a zombie apocalypse in the backyard of his castle, right?

A functional army needs a functional economy to support and feed it. Food, wood, stone, iron, and gold form the basis of your city’s economy, and you’ll need to carefully monitor your supplies if you want to meet the advancing enemy in time. Collect resources, choose your storage locations, plan your expansions and upgrades with care. The enemy will not willingly relinquish his lands, and unprotected civilian expansions will result in falling prey to enemy incursion. Trade via the impressive merchant ship and bring in emergency supplies of food to feed the men, or stone to rebuild the walls. Can you find the balance between greedy expansion and security?

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. If you’ve inherited a cursed kingdom, why not master the dark arts? Sturdy castle walls protect you from most common threats, but in Diplomacy Is Not An Option you also fight the undead. So why give them a monopoly on magic? There is a dark history of tainted power stirring zombies and ensnaring wayward souls. On the lighter side, it can also be used to call down very large fireballs on your enemies. So enjoy that too. Build magical monuments, harvest soul crystals and try out maniacal laughter as searing beams of magic tear through your enemies and summon ghosts to haunt those left behind.

The game is designed with freedom as its core concept. Go beyond the campaign and crush your enemies however you want in Endless Mode, Sandbox Mode or Challenge Mode. Develop your own personal strategies on procedurally generated maps. Hit walls early, build large armies of cannon fodder, or follow the macro game of greedy growth and expensive investments. Play battles in real time or use continuous pausing to keep control of everything. Can you be on par with the world’s most acclaimed generals like Joan of Arc and Genghis Khan? It’s up to you to decide which style will bring you the most success.

Just like in real life, stupidity and greed are at the root of most problems, but here it’s way too late to talk about it. You have no way to resolve this peacefully. At this stage: diplomacy is not an option!
