Wimbledon chef who cooked for A-listers is ‘caught stealing by undercover cameras’ after bosses raised concerns over missing shares

  • Wimbledon’s chef was arrested after luxury shares at the club went missing
  • Bosses at the site have reportedly installed undercover cameras to track the crime
  • Upon his arrest, the cook was also found with cocaine in his possession

A Wimbledon chef has been jailed after undercover video cameras caught the person stealing merchandise during the summer league, according to reports.

The glitzy Grand Slam event is the iconic tournament of the annual tennis calendar, with superstar players taking to the grass as A-list celebrities and royalty watch from the stands.

Senior staff are often treated to luxury meals at the All England Club, with one of the chefs responsible for cooking for some of the biggest names now out of work.

Scott Judson, 36, was arrested earlier this year after Wimbledon leaders were baffled as to why the stockpile of goods had disappeared.

To catch the perpetrator, bosses devised a plan to install hidden video cameras in the hope of catching the attacker red-handed, as reported by The Sun.

Two undercover devices were reportedly installed in the storage room, with Judson later seen entering, removing items from boxes and walking away from the scene.

A total of £849 worth of stolen goods was later recovered by police, including Range Rover cooler bags, Wimbledon towels, purple hoodies and more.

The chef who had worked at the prestigious venue for the past three years served some of the biggest and richest personalities in the world who wanted a fine dining experience while playing tennis.

Celebrated British grime artist Stormzy, Masterchef presenter Greg Wallace and celebrity chef Michel Roux Jnr are among the high-end profiles Judson came into contact with during his tenure.

The Wimbledon chef was arrested on July 14 – the day of the men’s singles final at Wimbledon – and, in addition to the stolen items, was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine allegedly for personal use.

He later appeared at Westminster District Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to charges of theft and possession of a class A drug.

The offender was given a community order for 12 months and must carry out 40 hours of unpaid work, plus a fine and fees totaling £399.

Judson’s legal representative defended his actions, saying: ‘He had been working very long and stressful hours in a kitchen.

“There was a belief, or an environment, in which other kitchen staff and other employees at the location went into that room and went into those boxes.”
