21-year-old girl from Indore goes missing, details of mental torture in latest letter | Latest news India

A 21-year-old Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) student has been missing from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, for the past two weeks, news agency PTI reported.

Her parents, based in Indore, have appealed to the Madhya Pradesh government to help trace her.

Curiously, they claimed that before their daughter Ojasvi went missing from her NIT hostel on September 15, she had left a letter describing the mental torture and academic pressure she faced after becoming a class representative.

Ojasvi’s cell phone has also been turned off since her disappearance. Her parents tried in vain to track down their daughter with the help of the Tamil Nadu police before appealing to the Madhya Pradesh government and the Indore police.

Indore Police Commissioner Rakesh Gupta told PTI that he had discussed the matter with necessary authorities and the Indore police would help the parents find their daughter.

Ojasvi’s father Nutesh Gupta claimed that going to NIT Trichy was the first time his daughter went to study outside her hometown

“Before she went missing, my daughter left a letter mentioning the mental torture and academic pressure she faced after becoming CR at NIT Trichy,” said Gupta.

He alleged that Ojasvi was probably harassed by her classmates after becoming a CR.

In a letter reportedly titled, “Sad reality of a male-dominated world,” Ojasvi Gupta had written, “It is really difficult for any woman to make men follow her or accept her leadership, if she is not beautiful .”

“It was my daughter’s dream to get admission in NIT. Her dream too came true. But we had no idea that she would disappear from the institute within a month,” he said.

Ojasvi’s elder brother Palash Gupta told PTI that with each day she is not found, concerns about her safety are increasing.
