Lionel Richie has finally decided to release a tell-all memoir that will reflect on the nearly 60 years of his career.

In a press statement via PEOPLEthe singer aims to “inspire anyone who doubts themselves or feels like their dreams don’t matter by describing the lessons he’s learned over the course of his most unlikely success stories.”

Lionel, who was spotted with his girlfriend at Spago, went “from a painfully shy, tragically late bloomer who struggled with ADHD to his dramatic transformation into a world-class entertainer and composer of love songs that have played like the soundtrack of our lives.”

The singer opened up about considering himself “the reluctant hero of my own story,” according to the outlet.

“I travel the world, and all people really want to hear is, ‘I love you,’” the musician said in a statement.

Lionel said: “’I love you’ is forever. And the day we realize that we come as different tribes, but that we all represent the global family of humanity… the day that happens, we will be clearly united, together, as one.”

“Lionel is not only a music legend who has long been a multicultural bridge between generations, he has witnessed monumental shifts in history and entertainment while working with some of the most important talents of our time,” said Judith Curr, president and publisher of HarperOne Group.

The publisher noted: “Lionel will tell how he lived to tell this story – and, through divine intervention, soon left for greater heights, with one of the greatest stories of rejuvenation ever told.”

Meanwhile, Lionel’s will hit HarperOne bookstores on September 30, 2025 and is available for pre-sale now.
