Blizzard is coming after your Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Spiritborn to avoid spam, so enjoy it while it lasts

Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion has been quite well received by players and fans. Much of that love is due to Blizzard’s design of the new Spiritborn class, but the new story chapter, key zone to explore, and raid-like new endgame activity have all received praise from many in the gaming community.

However, as with any new release/season, the meta is evolving to create powerful endgame builds for Diablo 4’s classes, and some will – as expected – be broken. Since this is the Spiritborn’s first foray into this world, the class will soon get its first broken build reworked.

The Spiritborn build in question isn’t broken for the amount of damage it does in combat (although it is incredibly powerful). No, the nerf hammer will land on this because the main hook exploits the dodge mechanism.

You won’t find this particular build in our list of recommended Spiritborn builds above, but it is quite easy to find online. You may have even seen it used by various content creators, especially because of the fast content.

One of the game’s next major updates, likely version 2.0.3 coming later this week, will create Spiritborn builds that rely on casting Evade and exploiting the animation. The reason? These builds rely on a bug and ruin the experience for nearby players.

“This is a bug because the Spiritborn can instantly break animation frames during Evade,” community boss Adam Fletcher explained on Twitter. “We are going to solve this, so that you cannot immediately dodge next time. Instead, it is normalized to the default evasion rate in all situations.”

Fletcher added that part of the reason the developer is doing this also has to do with the build’s effect on players in the same environment. Reception of the news on the Diablo 4 subreddit was mixed, but experienced players know that it would be affected sooner or later, especially considering the delay it causes.

After the season 1 nerf wave, which occurred closer to Diablo 4’s launch, angered most players, Blizzard vowed to take it easy on popular builds and not be as reactionary on that front as they could be. The only exception to this, however, is when builds ruin the game for players, no matter how powerful they are.
