The Geneva man is facing multiple charges, including drug possession and animal abandonment

A Geneva resident was arrested Thursday after a series of incidents led to multiple charges, Seneca Falls police said.

Stephen R. Kennedy, 35, was taken into custody on an active warrant on Oct. 24 at approximately 11:38 a.m. Authorities said the warrant stemmed from his failure to appear in court for violating a Class A protection order.

During the arrest, officers discovered a white substance on Kennedy, who later tested positive for fentanyl, resulting in a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. In addition, Kennedy was charged with petit larceny for going to allegedly left a local business without paying for merchandise.

Police also charged Kennedy in connection with a separate Oct. 22 incident in which he was found with methamphetamine and accused of abandoning an animal. Authorities say Kennedy tied his dog to a tree near Balsley Road and left him unattended. The dog was not injured and was handed over to Dog Control for care.

Kennedy was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he awaits arraignment in Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
