An incredible day of action in the first round of the FA Cup that will live long in the memory, even if fairytales were in short supply.

There were moments this afternoon when many EFL big guns wobbled against non-competitive opposition, but eventually the class told the story and they progressed to round two.

Not all of them made it though, with Wealdstone beating Grimsby and Oldham winning at Tranmere to enter the draw on BBC Two on Sunday at 19:45 GMT.

They will be joined by two teams from the seventh tier of English football.

Harborough Town recorded a 4-1 victory at upper division side Tonbridge Angels, while Gainsborough Trinity joined them after an extraordinary match in Hednesford.

Trinity trailed 3–0 with just over half an hour to play, but leveled in extra time and rallied from 4–3 down in extra time to force penalties.

A total of ten penalties were missed in the shootout, but Trinity keeper Dylan Wharton saved three to send his side through to the second round for the first time since 1952.

Phew. We all need a breather. We’ll be back tomorrow for five more first round games.

Enjoy your evening and see you then!
