MDI girls cross country team celebrates Class B state championship

BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) – The MDI girls cross country team won the Class B State Championship this fall.

The Trojans were led by state individual runner-up Amelia vanDongen, who finished with a time of 19:10.

The varsity lineup also included Fiona St. Germain, Marlee Catanese, Rebecca Rand, Kulani Granholm, Meri Rainford and Seneca Haney.

“MDI cross country as a program focuses so much on being a family. We have worked a lot to come together as one unit. It’s definitely surreal. I would say it was a well-fought, hard-earned victory,” St. Germain senior said.

St. Germain added that the Trojans enjoyed a celebratory police escort through Downtown Bar Harbor.
