The School Buzz: Lewis-Palmer 6th Graders Simulate Surgery Through UCHealth’s TIPS Program

Imagine your sixth grade biology class, possibly a health class. It is highly doubtful that this year it was as hands-on as Ray E. Kilmer’s TIPS lesson for sixth graders.

The elementary school recently welcomed UCHealth professionals for a day of immersion in teaching emergency response and trauma. It included surgical simulation, CPR training and education on making healthy, smart choices.

The program is called TIPS, which stands for Trauma Injury Prevention School. And the Lewis-Palmer School District said the students had a blast, potentially inspiring a new wave of future doctors and nurses.
