Asbury Automotive denies unsubstantiated FTC allegations, vows vigorous defense Page 1

Asbury Automotive Group (NYSE: ABG) today rejected false and unsubstantiated allegations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that three of its dealerships in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area sold protection products to customers who did not want to buy them and that the dealerships discriminated against minorities in selling these products.

After carefully reviewing the dealers’ records, Asbury said it will fight the FTC’s lawsuit, which alleges violations related to the sale of what the FTC calls “add-on” products, and will defend the dealers’ sales practices.
