Lipscomb University Celebrates Largest Incoming Freshman Class

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — For the second year in a row, Lipscomb University has broken an enrollment record with the largest incoming class of freshmen in the university’s history. It’s a huge milestone for the school.

Lipscomb officials said there are nearly 730 freshmen and more than 875 new students total, rounding out a projected total enrollment of more than 4,800 students this year.

A press release from the school said enrollment growth over the past 17 years reflects Lipscomb’s growing reputation as a leading, nationally recognized institution and one of the nation’s top Christian universities.

This year, the school also had its largest group of applicants ever. According to the school’s management, the vibrancy of Music City is a major factor in its appeal.

Several new programs are also offered on campus.

These include a Master of Science in Applied AI, a Master of Science in Sports Analytics, and an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

“We are thrilled to welcome another record number of freshmen to Lipscomb this year. Our Christ-centered mission, combined with our top academic programs, is a huge draw for students across the country,” said Lipscomb President Candice McQueen. “They know that Lipscomb is a place where students thrive and are part of a community that supports their growth in every aspect of life through the transformative experiences they will have here. I look forward to an incredible year.”

“Here’s a great story that proves that everyone has something to offer, regardless of age OR personal challenges. Our Austin Pollack introduces us to Ms. Sylvia Mooney. At 80 years old, she’s not sitting still. Instead, she’s using her skills to show compassion for others…one stitch at a time. Her crochet creations go to non-profits to help our homeless neighbors. You’ll be surprised to learn that she does it all while battling a serious health issue. Bravo Sylvia!”
