Tren de Aragua members with ties to Colorado apartment takeovers arrested, police say

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday that four suspected transnational gang members have been arrested in connection with the alleged takeover of an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, by Tren de Aragua.

Authorities told KDVR that six people were arrested this week at the Ivy Crossing Apartments. They are reportedly facing “various charges” related to drug and auto theft. Four of the people arrested are suspected members of the violent Venezuelan gang.

“We have developed a plan.”

Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown told KDVR, “We’re looking for violations so we can contact someone and address any issues they may have.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security, along with the sheriff’s office, conducted a proactive patrol around the apartment complex on August 21. As a result, agencies seized a stolen vehicle, ketamine and 750 counterfeit pills.

“There were a number of matters that occurred in our jurisdiction and we have a plan in place,” Brown told the news outlet.

It is currently unclear how the four individuals are connected to Tren de Aragua.

Last week, KDVR shared video of five men with guns storming Edge at Lowry, another apartment complex in Aurora. Another video captured a man using a hammer to break a deadbolt on an apartment door in the same complex.

Former residents Cindy and Edward Romero warned that the area had become a hot spot for TDA gang activity after illegal immigrants began moving into the complex. They called living in the apartment “a nightmare” and noted that their vehicle was riddled with bullet holes from a shooting that occurred last month.

Along with locals, Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky raised the alarm about the increased presence of gangs in the area. She blamed the rise in criminal activity on the sanctuary policies of neighboring Denver, which have led to illegal aliens flocking to Aurora.

“It’s a huge challenge throughout the Denver metropolitan area to get anyone, the media and other elected officials, to acknowledge this trend and that there is a problem at all,” Jurinsky recently told Fox News Digital.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat, has claimed that the TDA invasion is largely a figment of Jurinksy’s “imagination,” Blaze News previously reported.

“The governor has already informed the mayor that the state stands ready to support local law enforcement with assistance from state agents and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” a spokesperson for the governor recently told the New York Post. “But law enforcement intelligence indicates that this alleged invasion is largely a figment of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

According to local police, the TDA’s influence in the area is “isolated,” despite reports that the gang has managed to take over several apartment complexes.
