Here are 25 questions ABC moderators could ask Harris during the debate

For the CNN interview with Dana Bash, we came up with a list of 30 questions we would recommend Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ask. CNN only picked five, specifically the question about the fracking ban. Bash asked a very open-ended question about Harris and Biden’s mental decline.

For Tuesday night’s big presidential debate, we’d like to revisit most of these questions and add a few based on the latest news. Harris-Walz is probably the most liberal ticket ever, but they’re desperate to disguise that, so here are a wide range of 25 questions moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis could ask that could actually help voters make an informed choice in a few months.

  1. Should death row inmates have the right to vote?
  2. Do you support the abolition of private health insurance?
  3. How can you claim to unite the country when you were named the most liberal senator in 2019?
  4. Should biological males who identify as female be allowed to participate in women’s sports?
  5. Do you support restrictions on abortion?
  6. When does life begin?
  7. Do you support the Democrats’ efforts to keep some candidates (Jill Stein, Cornel West) off the ballot and try to keep some candidates (RFK Jr.) on the ballot after they’ve left the race? Is this pro-democracy?
  8. Now that Hunter Biden has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, do you regret calling for Trump’s impeachment instead of seeking more information about Hunter’s influential practices?
  9. Would you lift President Biden’s ban on LNG exports? If not, how can you claim to be tough on Russia?
  10. What is the biggest threat to national security? China or climate change?
  11. Who will be more prominent in a Harris administration: environmentalists or unions concerned about electric vehicles?
  12. How can voters trust your judgment on national security when you said in 2019 that Donald Trump posed the greatest threat to American national security?
  13. Given October 7 and everything that has happened since then, was it a mistake for President Biden to remove the Houthis from the list of terrorist organizations?
  14. Do you support ending the filibuster in the Senate?
  15. Do you support adding justices to the Supreme Court?
  16. How can voters trust you on the economy, even if liberals support you? Washington Post columnists attack your price control plan?
  17. How do you plan to tackle the national debt without major spending reforms?
  18. Did President Biden overspend and cause inflation?
  19. Did colleges violate Title VI by failing to end anti-Israel and often anti-Semitic demonstrations earlier this year?
  20. Is America a Systemically Racist Country?
  21. Did you hide anything about Biden’s mental or physical condition from the American people?
  22. How can you claim to be a pro-democracy candidate when in fact you have already been named as the nominee?
  23. Did you really work at McDonald’s? You never mentioned it until you decided to run for president?
  24. How can you complain that Trump exaggerates his achievements, when your running mate Tim Walz claims to have won awards he never won?
  25. Why are you suggesting that Trump will cut Social Security and Medicare when he has explicitly promised not to do so and has not cut these programs during his presidency?

By asking the questions on this list, you can test whether ABC wants to make the election about issues rather than personalities.
