All Cards in the Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop – Destructoid

All Cards in the Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop – Destructoid

Wizards of the Coast has revealed Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop. This is another very special collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and an iconic franchise that is part of the TCG’s Universes Beyond theme.

The Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop does exactly what some of us have been wanting for a long time. Ghost Hunters finally arrives Magic: The Gathering through these cards, things start not with the characters you know and love from the classic movies and more modern versions like the reboot, series and even video games, but with someone who has been the face from day one. Of course I’m talking about Slimer, because there really is no other service you’re going to call when you see the face.

When is the release date for Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop?

The release date for the Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop is September 30th, 2024. You can sign up to receive an email notification when Superdrop goes on sale on the Secret Lair website. I can’t recommend this enough if you really want the set because of the way Secret Lairs are being sold right now.

For those who don’t know, Secret Lair Superdrops used to be available for pre-order for a few weeks before the pre-orders closed for good. This meant that anyone who wanted to pick up a Superdrop could do so at their leisure.

The system has changed though. There is now only a limited supply of each Superdrop available for sale, and once they sell out, they’re gone. This has caused some controversy amongst the Magic: The Gathering community, because the Secret Lair website is not set up to prevent scalpers from using bots to buy up all the shares and resell them at a profit.

At the time of writing, five cards have been revealed for the Secret Lair x Ghostbusters: Slimer! Superdrop. I’ve listed all the cards we know about below, along with their abilities, so you can start building a deck that uses them all.

  • Slimer: Gluttonous Appearance – A 0/0 Legendary Creature, Ooze. When Slimer comes in, you may banish two creature cards from your graveyard. When you do, he comes in as a copy of one of those cards with a number of extra +1/+1 counters on him equal to the other card’s power.
  • Slimed up – A 1 costs Instant, Split Second. Counter targets activated or triggered ability. If a permanent’s ability is countered in this way, activated abilities of that permanent cannot be activated this turn.
  • Slimer’s Party – A 2-cost Sorcery. Each player discards their hand and then draws cards equal to the largest number of cards a player has discarded in this way.
  • Escape Restriction – A 4-cost sorcery. Demonstrate. Grind five cards, then return a creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  • Corrupt act – A 1-cost enchantment. Pay X to sacrifice a malefic act: Destroy every artifact, creature, and enchantment with a mana cost of X or less, where X is the amount of mana you tapped to sacrifice a malefic act.

I really like this Superdrop. It’s one that really suits decks that focus on building a big graveyard and then drawing huge creatures for a lower cost. My favorite addition to a deck like this from this Superdrop is Slimed because you can put a pause on all your opponent’s attempts to prevent you from pulling that 10/10 out of your graveyard and putting it in play to destroy them.
