This Mini HEPA Air Purifier Is A Great Way To Keep Your Gaming PC Dust-Free

Amazon has a great deal on a small, desk-sized air purifier. Right now, you can get a GoveeLife Mini Air Purifier for just $22.50 after clipping the 50% off coupon on the product page. This small air purifier is meant to sit on a desk or nightstand and will clean the air in its immediate vicinity. However, it also serves another very practical purpose for PC gamers; it minimizes the dust that gets into your gaming PC and reduces the frequency with which you have to clean it.

A good gaming PC has plenty of airflow, and that air inevitably brings in a lot of dust. The most common way to deal with this is to install air filters in front of the intake fans. I personally don’t use filters. They reduce the amount of airflow coming in, and it gets worse as the filters get clogged. Good maintenance takes care of that problem, but let’s be honest: most gamers don’t clean their cases often enough. I personally don’t have fan filters anymore. Instead, I place my bedroom air purifier right next to my gaming PC, so that the exhaust from the purifier flows directly into the intake vents of my PC. Despite not having filters, I only blow out my case once a year, and even then it’s basically just a thin layer of dust that has built up. Gone are the cobwebs and dust balls that used to plague me.

This particular GoveeLife purifier measures just 6.2″x10.7″x6.2″. It’s officially rated for 182 square feet of space, but at just 50CFM, I’d recommend it for a section of a room like your desk or bed. Like most Govee products, the purifier can be controlled via the Govee mobile app. The three-stage filtration system includes a pre-filter for larger particles, a HEPA filter for particles as small as 0.1 microns, and a carbon filter for odor removal. If you’ve owned a purifier before, you probably know that the real cost of a purifier is in the cost of replacements. Luckily, the replacements for this purifier aren’t all that expensive. For example, a 2-pack is currently priced at $21.99 on Amazon. You may be able to find them cheaper on a site like AliExpress. The app will remind you when to replace the filter, but user reviews suggest about 4 months. I’d probably stretch that to 6 months or more, considering the HEPA filter lasts much longer than carbon filter. If you replace the filter every four months, the cost comes to about $2.87 per month, which is still reasonable.

500-watt motor, 0.75 horsepower, 4.5 amps, 70 CFM air flow

If you plan on maintaining and regularly cleaning your PC, you’ll definitely need some sort of PC dust blower or vacuum to get the job done. Old-fashioned canisters of compressed air will definitely work, but there are other, more powerful options available now. I personally use a Datavac Dust Blower that I purchased on Amazon over a decade ago. It’s an extremely powerful (and loud) vacuum with a mighty 7.5 horsepower 500W motor. It still works great, and I haven’t had to buy any replacement parts or attachments for it. This model was cheaper back then, but if I were to buy another one, it would still be this vacuum or something similar.
