Enterprise head coach Ben Blackmon expected to miss an important region game

Enterprise head coach Ben Blackmon expects to miss Friday’s premier Class 7A Region 2 game in Opelika after an apparent rule violation by his program.

He did not elaborate on the exact reasons in a phone call with AL.com, but released the following statement:

“There was a rule that was broken by one of our coaches, and I was aware of it and accept responsibility for our program. We will handle the matter internally.”

Enterprise is 4-2 overall, 2-2 in Class 7A, Region 2 play.

Blackmon earned his 150th win as a head coach last week against Carver-Montgomery. He is 21-9 in his third season at Enterprise and 150-61 in 18 years overall.

He spent four years as head coach at Greenville, four at Gulf Shores and seven years at Spanish Fort. He led the Toros to the Class 6A state title in 2015.

After Friday’s game, Enterprise has regular season games against JAG, Smiths Station and Choctawhatchee, Florida.
