Thom Hartmann to discuss the American dream

Thom Hartmann, a New York Times bestselling author and host, will propose ways to revive the “American Dream” and comment on the upcoming election during a Zoom event next week offered by the Praxis Peace Institute in Sonoma.

His presentation, “The Fall of the Middle Class and How to Save Our Future,” is scheduled for Friday, November 1 at 4 p.m. Registration – which costs $15 for Praxis members and $20 for non-members – can be done at pdne.ws/ 3BZKVdu

Hartmann’s new book, “The Hidden History of the American Dream,” traces the rise of the American middle class through President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s progressive policies and its demise during Reagan-era economic deregulation.

He proposes an action plan to revive the American dream, such as wealth and inheritance taxes, supporting unions and renationalizing public space and transportation.

Hartmann has hosted a nationally syndicated radio program, “The Thom Hartmann Program,” since 2003, and from 2010 to 2017, he hosted a nightly television program, “The Big Picture.”

As a journalist, he has covered many international hotspots, including Egypt, Uganda, Colombia, India and the Philippines. He has also helped establish famine relief programs, schools and refugee centers in these countries.

He wrote a Hidden History series of ten books on American history and many politically oriented books. Hartmann is also a psychotherapist and has written about ADHD.
