Northside soccer team excited about move to Class 5A

The Northside Rams prepare for the fall season, this time with a little more anticipation.

Last year, the Rams finished 4-6, missing the Class 4A playoffs for the first time in seven years.

Northside moves up in classification this year, from Class 4A to Class 5A. It bodes for a greater challenge for the Rams than other schools, as Northside High Schools’ population hasn’t increased much despite the move up in classification.

Rams football head coach Robbie Jones says his team is looking forward to life in Class 5A.

“We’re excited about the challenge,” Coach Jones said. “You’re going to have teams that have a lot more depth than we do, we still have about the same amount of kids, but we’re excited about it and we’re not shying away from it. We’re excited about the move up to 5A.”

Northside will play four of its first five games away in the opening season.
