Heartbreaking video shows Southport stabbing victim Alice, nine, trying on make-up as new footage reveals her love of dancing from a young age

Her family shared a new, heartbreaking video of one of the victims of the Southport stabbings, in which the avid dancer can be seen filming herself putting on makeup.

In the video, Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, who was murdered two weeks ago during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, films herself to show off the bright pink eyeshadow she’s wearing.

In other photos, the young girl is seen dressed in a pink tutu before ballet class, smiling toothlessly at the camera.

She was a dedicated dancer, her parents said today during a tribute at her funeral service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Southport.

She was killed along with Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, while ten others were seriously injured in the brutal attack two weeks ago.

In a heartbreaking photo, Alice is seen standing in front of the class, eagerly smiling at a life-size cardboard figure of the singer in the doorway of the Hart Space studio, in Hart Street, Southport.

The girl, who is seen in the photo wearing leggings, sneakers and a T-shirt with the text Vacay Vibes, had just started her summer vacation.

Her father Sergio and mother Alexandra said Alice was ‘our perfect dream child, everything was idyllic from the moment you arrived’.

They added: ‘A good girl, with strong values and a kind nature. An animal lover and environmentalist in the making. You have moved our world with your confidence and empathy. Playful, energetic, kind and always so respectful.

‘A peacemaker of the playground. No shouting is a house rule that you apply. A big task for a little girl, especially in a Portuguese household.

‘Being with you was a privilege, we cherished every milestone. You made us complete.

“In nine short years, we’ve never needed your time. We’ve never given up our time for anything that didn’t involve you. And when we did, we always did it separately, so you always had one of us by your side.”

The Portuguese family attended a commemoration of her life on Tuesday, a tradition in Portugal that takes place a week after someone dies.

They continued: ‘You were born and raised in love and we loved cuddling you every night for almost nine years. Apart from sleepovers and nights away with your friends, we were never apart.

“You loved sleeping over at Mommy and Daddy’s, loved closing the curtains and watching Disney Plus with popcorn. Our room was your comfort zone. You were our solace and peace.

‘As you grew from a princess to a pre-teen, we started to notice some changes, we saw your independence take shape. From your skincare regimen, to playing with makeup, to your dedication to school, to dancing, to your faith.

‘You had a long to-do list and we were confident that you would complete it if you only had the time.

“We talked about what high school you would go to, about growing up, having a big house and a yard, and having children. Children that we will never help you raise. It hurts. We will never see you grow up.

‘The day before your last struggle, Mom kept asking if you were okay. So much so that you and Dad asked ‘why?’

‘Part of me wondered if I was too British. But eventually I realised that I always wanted to know you were okay. Now Dad feels sorry for Mum, she’s seen things no human should have to see.

‘You were taken from us far too soon and we often ask why? Why here? Why us? Why you? We wonder if you ever thought of us. Called for us. We wondered if you felt pain. We hope not, darling.

‘We ask ourselves, could this have been prevented? Could we have stopped it somehow… we will never get over this pain. We promise to get all the answers. Mom has seen too much, and we need to know.

We are shocked, in unimaginable pain, we miss you.

‘Every now and then the pin drops. When mom says ‘good night, Sergio, good night Alice’ and then it comes back to all of us. We don’t hear from you anymore.

‘Moving forward will be hard. Some days will be better than others, but none will be perfect. Sometimes we’ll be weak and say wild things. But we made a promise to always be there for each other in our moments of desperation, a pinky promise.

“We share a strong bond and we will always be able to rely on each other. We will not be alone. We are surrounded by a great community and their full support, family and friends, neighbors, co-workers, the great military who serve the community, your school, your church and all your friends and their parents.

“We have the full support of the country and the privilege of multiplying that by two. We are grateful for that.

“Keep dancing for now, our beloved Angel. Mommy and Daddy will always, always love you.”
