Truly captivating: Gautam Adani after receiving British envoy in India

Ahmedabad, August 12 (IANS): Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said on Monday he was honoured to host Lindy Cameron, the British High Commissioner to India, and that her sharp perspective on the “ever-changing global landscape is truly compelling”.

In a post on X, Gautam Adani reported on the meeting with the British envoy.

“Her sharp, insightful perspective on the ever-changing global landscape is truly captivating! It was equally inspiring to watch her work with our 2nd cohort of Chevening-Adani AI Scholarship winners who are headed to the UK’s leading universities,” said the Adani Group CEO.

“The Adani Group is delighted to support these brilliant minds in realising the AI ​​ambitions for both India and the UK,” Gautam Adani noted.

The Adani Group chairman met Cameron in May and wished her the very best in further improving relations between the two countries.

In a post on X, Gautam Adani said it was “fascinating to learn about a wide range of topics ranging from her stint around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan, to cybersecurity, the future of nuclear energy and much more”.

“We wish her all the best in her crucial role in continuing to improve India-UK relations,” he said.

Cameron has been appointed British High Commissioner to India, succeeding Alex Ellis. She is the UK’s first female envoy to the country.

The Adani Group is offering up to five scholarships to candidates from India who wish to pursue a Chevening-eligible degree equivalent to a prestigious British second-class honours degree.

According to the group, “We want to promote artificial intelligence and machine learning in India. Empowering future leaders will help build and develop the AI-ML ecosystem in India.”

The Adani Group further said that “we want to lead the revolution that will transform India into the technological hub of the world. This will only be possible if we help the next generation get a world-class education and use it to make the world a better place to live.”

According to the Chevening website, the Adani family has committed more than $7 billion to develop education, healthcare and skills development in rural India.
