King Charles visits Southport in northern England to meet stabbing victims

King Charles III travels to Southport in northern England to meet the victims and relatives of the mass stabbing and subsequent riots, which mainly targeted Muslims and migrants in Britain.

Three young girls were killed and eight others injured at a Taylor Swift event in the seaside resort last month.

Days of rioting followed in Southport and other cities across the UK, sparked by false online posts that falsely described the suspected killer as a Muslim migrant.

On Tuesday, King Charles will meet privately with a number of surviving children who were present when the dance class was attacked, and will also meet with their families.

He will then meet and thank representatives from local emergency services and community groups.

Earlier this month, King Charles called for mutual respect and understanding after racist riots against Muslims and migrants broke out in Britain.

He praised the community spirit, compassion and resilience shown in combating the aggression and criminality of the rioters, and said he hoped that mutual respect and understanding would continue to unite the nation.

The charity Princes Trust was founded by the King in the 1970s and has helped more than a million young people into work or set up community projects.

The charity has been active in areas of riots and unrest over the years, and has continued to operate after the king’s coronation.
