Jonathan David reveals desired future ahead of Lille departure rumours 🇨🇦

Lille star Jonathan David has spoken out about his club’s future after being repeatedly linked with a move away.

There were rumours that the 24-year-old striker would leave Ligue 1 for the Premier League or Serie A, but it now appears he will stay in France.

David scored his third goal in a week and provided an assist in his team’s 2-0 win in Champions League qualifying on Tuesday, before speaking about his future.

“There is still a good chance that I will stay in Lille. My wish? I am happy here,” said the Canadian international.

“I’m still under contract, we don’t know what the future holds. I still have a year left on my contract, if I can spend it here, that’s fine.”

Clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Inter and Roma are said to be keeping a close eye on the striker’s situation.

He is behind only Alexander Sørloth as the top goalscorer in 2024, level with Harry Kane and ahead of Erling Haaland.

David’s current contract with Lille runs until 2025.
