Chandigarh, Aug 23 (PTI) A school bus driver has been arrested for allegedly raping a class 12 girl and blackmailing her with doctored photographs of her in Zirakpur, Punjab, police said on Friday.

According to the police, the suspect, Mohd Razaq (26), stalked the underage girl for some time and then approached her for friendship, which the victim refused.

The suspect raped the girl, who attends school here, three times in her home between May and July while her parents were away, police said.

Police said the crime came to light when the girl finally confided in her parents after they noticed her distress. A complaint was subsequently lodged with the police and the accused was arrested on Wednesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DSP) Zirakpur Jaspinder Singh.

Razaq has been charged with rape, criminal intimidation and other charges under relevant provisions of the law, including the POCSO Act, Singh said.
