Police say shooter free after man killed

Police suspect a gunman is on the run after a man was fatally shot in Sydney’s west overnight.

At 3.30am on Monday, police were called to a block of Harold Street, Parramatta, following reports of a shooting. When paramedics arrived, they found a man, believed to be 29, with gunshot wounds.

The man was treated by ambulance personnel, but he died at the scene.

Police have designated a crime scene that will be investigated by specialist police on Monday.

Just 15 minutes after the man died, a sedan engulfed in flames was found on A’Beckett Street in Granville.

The car was reported stolen. NSW Firefighters extinguished the fire but the car was destroyed.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are investigating possible links to the shooting.

Two men were seen leaving the scene of the fire in another vehicle.

Detectives are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or information on any of the incidents to come forward and contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
