Lou Majaw Honored with Honorary Doctorate by USTM

Guwahati, August 28: Renowned pop-rock icon Lou Majaw Lou on Tuesday received an honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).

The honor recognizes Lou Majaw’s exceptional contributions to the arts, culture and social development. The award was presented at USTM’s 10th Convocation, where 1,639 graduates received their degrees.

The function was attended by eminent guests including Vice Chancellors of various universities and speeches by Prof. Ved Prakash and Prof. VN Rajsekharan Pillai.

Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque expressed his vision to make USTM a world-class institution and thanked the Government of Meghalaya for its support.

The best students, including Kasim Ampang Sangma, Manash Pratim Sarmah, Mustafizur Rahman and Sujata Kumari, also received gold medals and special recognition.

The ceremony concluded with the taking of the oath and singing of the national anthem, celebrating the achievements and future aspirations of USTM graduates.
