Tesla’s Sentry Mode helps capture suspect who was on the run for months

Tesla Sentry Mode helped police capture a theft suspect who had been on the run from police for eight months.

In January, Korde Vann was identified as a suspect in a theft. He met a man named Tyler Murphy, who was also a business owner who repaired, sold, and refurbished gaming computers.

Murphy started a company, M Technologies, earlier this year.

Murphy met Vann in January in a restaurant parking lot after the two had discussed a computer transaction. Vann took the $1,600 computer and ran away.

Murphy’s Tesla, which was in Sentry mode, captured the entire event on camera.

WKYT, A local news station in Lexington, Kentucky, reported on the story.

Vann was identified just weeks after the theft. He was arrested and released in February, but failed to appear at a court hearing in the summer, leading to a warrant for his arrest.

Sentry Mode footage helped identify Vann as the suspect. He was arrested again this past weekend for disorderly conduct, violating local ordinances, resisting arrest and failure to appear. He was also found to have 25 fentanyl pills in his possession.

He pleaded not guilty.

Sentry Mode is one of the most useful features for identifying suspects in vandalism and other crimes. It has also been used to solve a variety of other criminal acts.
