NICE (Nasdaq: NICE) The Augusta (Georgia) Judicial Circuit Attorney’s Office today announced that the Augusta (Georgia) Judicial Circuit Attorney’s Office will implement NICE Justice digital evidence management, one of the AI-powered solutions in NICE’s Evidencentral platform, to deliver timely justice to crime victims. By implementing NICE Justice, the DA’s office aims to reduce delays associated with evidence collection and processing and move cases through the criminal justice system more quickly. The Augusta DA’s Office is the fifth DA in the state of Georgia to implement the NICE Justice digital transformation platform.

The cloud-based NICE Justice solution digitally transforms the way district attorneys and law clerks receive, interact with, manage, and share digital evidence. Freed from dealing with drives, disks, emails, and logging into multiple systems to manage and prepare evidence, attorneys and staff can focus on building and presenting compelling cases. NICE Justice also features built-in AI and automation capabilities for object detection, automated case building, video and audio transcription and translation, optical character recognition (OCR), analytics, and evidentiary nexus.

District Attorney Jared Williams said: “Slow justice is no justice. Our mission is to deliver real, fair and efficient justice to victims of crime. Our investment in NICE Justice will automate processes around capturing and managing digital evidence, allowing our office to focus on prosecuting serious crimes and protecting victims.”

Chris Wooten, Executive Vice President, NICE, said: “Digital evidence is growing exponentially and managing that evidence is essential to effectively prosecuting crimes. With NICE Justice, prosecutors and law enforcement officers can provide the highest level of support to victims in the community by devoting their time and talents to building, preparing and prosecuting cases, rather than doing the routine work involved in managing digital evidence.”

The District Attorney’s Office for the Augusta Judicial Circuit represents the people of Georgia in all felony cases arising in Burke and Richmond counties. Sixty employees handle approximately 5,000 cases at any given time, including 2,500 felony cases annually. By utilizing NICE Justice, the District Attorney’s Office expects to shave an expected nine to twelve months off the average life of a case.
