Piloting in Wolfenbüttel and in Ludwigsburg District

The Lower Saxony city of Wolfenbüttel and the district of Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg are testing Second-Life power storage from used electrical vehicle batteries. In the development of Fluxlicon’s investment projects, a technology is being developed that integrates battery-shifting repairers and larger quantities. These modular building blocks offer a lot of lightness and convenience for various municipal applications and open up new ways to the second-use available resources.

Used lithium-ion batteries from electrical devices that no longer provide the energy supply can cause a lasting loss for stationary storage systems. When the battery is put in the battery 80 percent of the costs are increased and a more efficient current can be obtained.

The research project “Intelligent and flexible systems for the deployment of your second-life battery in the municipal charging infrastructure” (Fluxlicon) develops a flexible and modular storage system in container construction from second-life batteries. You can use the flexible energy supply in the energy infrastructure in the center. If you integrate other projects with Fluxlicon batteries, different manufacturers and sizes, which makes the product paint production more and more flexible and the jewelry can be customized.

Pilot communities as Vorreiter der Energiewende

In an Ausschreibungsprozess, Ludwigsburg and Wolfenbüttel were opened for the Pilotage of Fluxlicon Speichers. If there is a piece of jewelery in 2024, the jewels from 16 generations Batteries are different Hersteller bestht. The Landkreis Ludwigsburg factory has the integration of Fluxlicon-Speichers into the Verwaltungscampus as part of an erneuerbaren Quartierskonzepts. Der Speicher unterstützt dieses Konzept voor de Erhöhung des Stromanteils aus localn Photovoltaikanlagen anyway by intelligents Lastspitzenmanagement. The power can be another way to use the charging infrastructure. In Wolfenbüttel, the Fluxlicon storage optimizes the supply of urban lighting during the photovoltaic exemption, which is currently being planted. During the transition storage of the intended currents, the clearance in the times or solar radiation can be provided with local current. As one of the major By expanding the energy flows of the city’s power consumers, there will be a higher energy flow and the connection to the local grid.

Both application cases serve as reference models for future energy storage concepts with Second Life storage in municipalities. The experiences gained were financed by the government and could be used in other cities and municipalities.

About the project

With the Fluxlicon research project, the recognition of the characterization and integration of batteries in the stationary storage system was completed. If you use a storage system with Second-Life batteries, you should use a familiar platform, which contains structure and relevant batteries, a new battery that is used. Fluxlicon is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). The consortium consists of PEM Motion, ConAC, the “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) teaching staff, RWTH Aachen, DEKRA and the Agency for Renewable Energy.
