I visited Chase’s 2 NYC Airport Lounges; check out the cozy spaces inside

  • My Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card gives me access to airport lounges around the world.
  • Most of these are part of the Priority Pass network, but new Chase cards have also been added to the offering.
  • Chase’s New York locations are cozy, modern and accommodating to economy class passengers, regardless of airline.

As an avid traveler who crosses the Atlantic at least twelve times a year and usually flies economy class, I find access to airport lounges to be one of the biggest perks.

I have a Priority Pass membership through my Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. It costs me $550 a year and gives me access to hundreds of lounges worldwide.

Many of these offer free food and drinks (including alcohol), while some offer free showers. A few rare ones also offer beds and swimming pools.

Most lounges are owned by airlines, requiring a ticket with that specific airline, or by independent service providers with their own membership networks, such as Priority Pass, which many credit cards provide access to.

But in recent years, a new crop of lounges have emerged, sponsored by banks and credit card issuers. American Express leads the way with its more than two dozen Centurion Lounge locations worldwide, and Chase is now opening its own branded airport spaces.

I recently visited the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club locations at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York. I think Chase has created a well-balanced pre-flight experience — and I like that you don’t need airline status or a business class ticket to access it.
