Trump makes his case to parents in ‘Mothers for Freedom’ speech, citing the effects of open borders and transgender ideology on children

WASHINGTON, DC — Donald Trump told hundreds of mothers across the country on Friday that Democratic policies are harming children and that a second Trump administration will prioritize parents’ rights.

He spoke for an hour at a conference organized by Moms For Liberty just two blocks from the White House, with some promising to “fight like a mother” to bring him home.

Trump said the Biden-Harris open border policy, which allows any child to cross the border as long as they are “unaccompanied” by a parent, is cruelly putting Hispanic children in vulnerable situations.

“Large percentages of women are raped and beaten to death in the trailers,” he said. “Mothers give their daughters big bottles of birth control because they know it’s bad when they grow up.”

The “unaccompanied minors” loophole remains in place even under Biden’s recent executive order tightening the border, and Harris’ Democratic National Convention platform reaffirms his commitment to it. Trump suggested the exemption led to family separations, encouraging children to be separated from their parents and come to the U.S. alone, where they’re at the mercy of traffickers. “We’re going to have them come forward and tell them you’re going to get (stuff) for free,” he said.

Nearly 500,000 “unaccompanied minors” have crossed the border, and Biden has waived DNA testing requirements and reduced screening, sending them to live with unrelated “sponsors.” About a third of the children disappear after being sent to live with sponsors.

Trump said American children are also suffering from the influx of migrants. “They’re coming into the classroom, carrying diseases, and they don’t even speak English. It’s crazy,” he said. “I thought New York had no money, but they’re spending billions of dollars on illegal immigrants. … When you think about 21 million people coming to our country, that’s more than New York. Nobody can handle that.”

Trump said that foreign leaders are removing criminals from their societies by dumping them in the United States, and that American youth are “being killed by illegal aliens” — two words he said Democrats don’t want people to use because “they want to take away all the words so you can’t talk about the subject.” He said he was at the border two days ago with parents who had lost a child to migrant crime.

He said he believes that 85-90 percent of the country does not want to be flooded with illegal immigrants, and that he will deport them. “The top deporter was a pretty moderate man, but he hated to see our country flooded, Dwight Eisenhower,” he said.

Trump said he would restore parents’ rights, citing the Loudoun County transgender rape cover-up exposed by The Daily Wire that led to the victim’s father being prosecuted.

“You have parents fighting each other at school board meetings and they mean well. Especially in Loudoun County,” he said. “The parents really love the kids. Some of these people on the boards, I don’t think they like the kids that much, with what they’re doing. You’ve got to give the rights back to the parents. This administration, the FBI, is going after the parents. We’re going to change that on day one.”

He also said he would make sure girls could participate in sports without being thwarted by mediocre boys. “Who wants men in women’s sports?” he asked. “The Olympics were the best thing I’ve ever seen because when those boxers come out, it’s ridiculous… it’s so demeaning to women.”

Parents are an important group of voters for Republicans, as Democrats have quickly politicized public education and even fought against merit and rigor — such as schools for gifted and talented children — in the name of “equality.”

Trump was introduced by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who attributed his own success to his mother’s close monitoring of him in New York City’s public schools.

Moms for Liberty was founded three years ago out of anger over extended school closures pushed by Democrats at the behest of teachers unions. It is now widely accepted that the mothers’ position was the right one.

Democrats pretended the misstep never happened, but many at the Mothers for Freedom convention felt that children were still suffering from a year of educational loss and that Democrats should pay the price at the ballot box.

Still, one person wore a mask during Trump’s 2024 speech: a reporter camped out in a press room who was also one of the few who did not stand during the national anthem.
