Vote for the best Huntsville football player of week 2

Fans can once again vote for their favorite performance by a North Alabama high school football team.

Coaches can submit stats after their Friday night games or nominate players before 12:00 noon every Saturday afternoon.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician and can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting ends Wednesday night. The winner will be announced Thursday on AL.com.

These are the nominees for week 2:

Luke Gilbert, Pisgah: Gilbert’s standout night as quarterback saw him finish 20-for-25 with 298 yards, three touchdowns and an interception through the air. He also collected 64 yards and a touchdown on the ground in Class 2A No. 1 Pisgah’s 30-22 win over Class 3A No. 1 Fyffe.

Jaxon Potter, Austin: The Murray State player played a key role in Austin’s 41-0 win over rival Decatur, totaling 111 yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions.

Jack Jones, Athens: Jones finished the Golden Eagles’ 42-7 win over Buckhorn with two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Evan McClure, Westminster Christian: McClure ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns in a thrilling 37-33 win over Plainview. His 2-yard TD run with 3:12 left in the third quarter pulled Westminster within three points.

MaCarri Johnson, West Morgan: The Rebels running back rushed for 166 yards and scored four touchdowns on 18 carries in a 42-10 win over Brooks.

Tyler Pierce, Boaz: Boaz’s quarterback completed 13 of his 17 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns on Friday night as the Pirates defeated Albertville 56-7 in the 84th Backyard Brawl.

Jackson Spencer, Huntsville: Spencer finished with three total touchdowns in the Panthers’ 36-6 win over Mae Jemison on Friday night; he also attempted a 2-point conversion after a touchdown.

Noah Gaunt, Randolph: Gaunt collected 153 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver in a 32-31 victory over Class 4A No. 8 Madison Academy on Friday. He also recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the win.

Dawson Cambron, New Hope: Cambron had a strong night at receiver in New Hope’s 69-0 blowout of DAR on Friday, rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns on six catches. He also returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown.

Cam Gentle, Guntersville: Gentle finished with four tackles and recorded a team-high two interceptions in Class 5A No. 1 Guntersville’s 23-19 comeback win over Fort Payne on Friday.
