In 1934 Capra produced the film “Es geschah in einer Nacht”. The screwball comedy with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert won a full film and won Oscars.

Capras wrote a film for the Columbia War “Mr. Smith Went to Washington” starring James Stewart. Another part of Succession for the Studio, which received a further Oscar nomination from Capra, was released.

The Howard Hawks War was another director who continued the war from Columbia. Hawks played one of the best screwball comedies of the 30th year of directing, with “Die schreckliche Wahrheit” (1937) and “Sein Mädchen für besondere Fälle” (1940), both with Cary Grant in the Hauptrolle.
