SARGODHA: The Kot Momin police have arrested a landlord for kidnapping and murdering his young employee on suspicion of theft. The police arrested the accused after Mazhar’s body was found in a sugarcane field.

Police said that accused Aamir confessed to kidnapping and killing Mazhar on August 24. The incident came to light after Muhammad Aslam, a close relative of the deceased, filed a complaint with the police on August 30. He alleged that Mazhar had quit his job as he had not received salary from Aamir and had not returned to work despite repeated requests from the landlord.

The police investigation revealed that Aamir had allegedly abducted Mazhar and tortured him on August 24. On August 30, the police received information about human remains found in the field. Locals informed the police that Mazhar had been missing for some time and that the remains might be his.

Police arrested Aamir who said he suspected Mazhar of stealing valuables from him and in a fit of rage tortured him to death and then dumped the body in a sugarcane field.

Police have taken the body to hospital for an autopsy. The case against Aamir has now been amended to include murder charges.

Separately, Shehbaz was killed by gunmen out of enmity. Police registered a murder case against six persons and handed over the body to the victim’s family after an autopsy. The suspects fled after the shooting.
