Dylan Stewart sparks social media frenzy after South Carolina Gamecocks debut

The South Carolina Gamecocks’ prized recruit in the class of 2024 was, by far, Dylan Stewart. The EDGE rusher from Washington, D.C. was a consensus Top-20 recruit and was at one point considered the No. 1 overall player in the class. After what he showed for the Gamecocks in his collegiate debut on Saturday … maybe he should have been the No. 1 overall player in the class, as he flashed like a superstar in his first-ever collegiate game.

Stewart had four tackles and 1.5 sacks in his first start, while also forcing two fumbles. But it’s what he put on tape that has everyone on social media excited about this young man’s future.

CBS Sports’ Mike Renner is covering the NFL Draft. He won’t be talking about Dylan Stewart for the next two full draft classes, but he couldn’t resist watching some Stewart tape.

The best single-game grade by an EDGE Defender in the Power 5 in four years… in his first college football game. There’s more than enough reason to be hopeful about the future of this young Gamecocks’ career.
