Mats Hummels completes transfer to Roma

Roma have confirmed the arrival of World Cup winner Mats Hummels.

The former Germany international has signed a one-year contract in the Eternal City after becoming a free agent this summer.

The agreement does not contain an option to extend.

Hummels left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season after a second spell at the club that lasted five years and saw him help the club reach the Champions League final last season.

The experienced defender was also heavily linked with Real Sociedad, Bologna and Mallorca during the summer.
