Nebraska Recruiting Needs a Breakthrough for Class of 2026

Nebraska Recruiting Needs a Breakthrough for Class of 2026

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in a strange situation as they have experienced many highs and lows in recruiting over the past few years.

Let’s start with the recruitment highlight of 2024 star quarterback and now starting true freshman QB Dylan Raiola, who traded his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He was originally committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes before decommitting and during that time there was smoke in the air for Nebraska but that was quickly put out by Kirby Smart. However, it became more visible as the talent from Buford High School in the state started to pick up steam again for Nebraska. The relationship started strong and ended strong.

Let’s look ahead to the bad news.

Missing a guy like David Sanders is a bit of an arrow in the heart if you ask me. A five-star blindside offensive tackle with real Sunday potential who you put in the final four to commit somewhere else. This was because Nebraska took him late… that’s the story for a lot of players.

Is that the problem with Nebraska, since they are now at a point of concern because they haven’t landed an underclassman commit? Even teams like Florida State already have six commits in that class, while the Cornhuskers have a big zero on the board to deal with.

In the world of recruiting, teams that commit their players early usually succeed throughout the entire class, Nebraska has had a solid class in the class of 2025, but at some point you have to turn the page. It’s time to look to the future if you’re in Nebraska.

It starts with the 2026 class. You have to get your guys in the boat early. Teams like Tennessee have gotten their guys in with players like Faizon Brandon or teams like Florida State have gotten their guys in with players like Brady Smigiel… it’s time for Nebraska to find their guy.

I have a feeling this is coming real quick. HuskerMax will have you covered all the way!
